Which MacBook to Buy?

Purchasing a MacBook is probably one of the most toughest decision you can ever make. Especially if you ready to shell out a bomb for your dream laptop. All you need is a little guidance and here we are, all ready to help you select the right Mac for you.

MacBook Air

If you want to purchase a laptop that’s on the go and yet a reasonable one, them the MacBook Air is the right one for you. It comes in 11 inches and 13 inches screen size. All the four MacBook Airs have a standard 4GB of RAM and 1.6GHz dual-core Core i5 processor. Storage space, however, is different. The $899 11 inch model and $999 13 inch model has 128 GB of flash storage. The $1099 11 inch model and 13$1199 13-inch model have 256GB storage space.

If you move a lot and tend to use your laptop for general purpose work, we recommend the Macbook Air. However, remember one thing. You cannot easily upgrade the storage once you have made the purchase. Hence, buy a model that has the right amount of storage space for you.

MacBook

The MacBook is Apple’s latest entry in the ultra-portable laptop market. This model works great for those users who prefer mobility over anything else. This model is available in just a single size, ie 12 inch and comes in three different colors: space gray, gold, or silver. The dual-core 1.1GHz Intel Core M processor and 256GB of flash storage model is priced at $1299. The dual-core 1.2GHz Intel Core M processor and 512GB of flash storage model is priced at $1599.

However, a point to be noted here is that MacBook is the slowest of Apple’s laptop products. It may not work as fast as you may want it to. Yes, it will be able to handle professional production tasks, but it won’t be the fastest to the finish line.

If you are constantly on the go and may not require to connect devices, then you can go in for the MacBook. But mind you, if you have to make connections, be prepared to carry a bunch of adapters.

MacBook Pro with Retina display

Before Apple released MacBook Pro with Retina display, the MackBook Pro was released. It had a standard, non-Retina display. If you do not want to give up on a lot of features, then the MacBook Pro is good. However, the hard drive may not perform very well. Hence, if you want to get the best performance, you may want to customize the laptop to replace the hard drive with an extra-cost SSD.

The Retina MacBook Pro, on the other hand, has a high-density display. If you want a portable laptop that not only gives you performance, but also high specifications, then you may go for the Retina MacBook Pro. There are three 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro models and two 15 inch Retina MacBook Pro models. All these models have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and hence wireless connectivity shouldn’t be a problem.

Our advice is to purchase the $1499 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro. It is packaged bundle of price and performance. However, the Retina MacBook Pro models does not have a SuperDrive. You may need to purchase an external USB optical drive. Also, if most of your work requires Internet access and other productivity tasks, go for a MacBook Air. The 13-inch MacBook Air still works well enough for most any mainstream workload, and it has the best battery life of any laptop that has been tested.
